Lapland Military Band: Korundi III - From Finland’s Nature

Conductor: Juhani Valtasalmi Soloist: Inga-Máret Gaup-Juuso The third Korundi concert of the Lapland Military Band’s year draws inspiration from the natural beauty of Finland. The first half will feature works dedicated to the Saimaa ringed seal, including Järven tarinoita (Stories of the Lake) and Syksyisiä kuvia (Autumn Images). The second half offers a comprehensive audiovisual experience with the live presentation of Lapland Imagery, a 50th-anniversary piece composed by Ilari Hylkilä for the Lapland Military Band in 2019. This will be accompanied by a music video directed by Alexander Kuznetsov and written by the band’s script team. Soloist Inga-Máret Gaup-Juuso will shine in this segment. The concert will conclude with Anssi Tikanmäki’s beloved Maisemakuvia Suomesta (Landscape Images of Finland). The evening’s visual extravaganza will be complemented by stunning nature photographs projected onto a screen as the music plays. These photographs, taken by the award-winning nature photographer Markku Välitalo, will enhance the immersive experience.
