Pulling the Threads - Works from Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation Collection

Pulling the Threads immerses the viewer into the world of textile art. Curated from the Wihuri Foundation Collection, the exhibition brings the tactile and material aspects of craftsmanship into focus, while challenging traditional perceptions of what textile art can be. The works on display range from soft, subtle surfaces to powerful, sculptural forms, highlighting the diversity and versatility of materials.

The structure of the textile pieces invites reflection on the process of creation itself. The viewer is drawn closer to the work, following the loops, threads, or woven surfaces. Pulling the Threads plunges into the material - here, it does not remain in the background but is meant to be seen and felt.

The exhibition has been realised in collaboration with the University of Lapland's Faculty of Art and Design, specifically with the Fashion and Textile Design degree programme. The curators are Professor Heidi Pietarinen and University Lecturers Ritva Jääskeläinen, Piia Pyrstöjärvi, and Jenni-Liisa Yliniva.
