Juuli Holma

Principal Cello

Juuli Holma started playing the cello at the age of six in her hometown of Jyväskylä. Later, her studies took her to the Sibelius Academy and the Chicago College of Performing Arts, where she was taught by Hannu Kiiski, Heikki Rautasalo, Timo Hanhinen and Wendy Warner. In addition, Juuli has participated in numerous master classes in cello and chamber music around the world, with teachers such as Frans Helmersson, Torleif Thedeén, Bernard Greenhouse, Gary Hoffman, Gabor Takács-Nagy and the Julliard, Chilingirian and Fine Arts quartets.

Chamber music is one of Juuli’s greatest passions. She has performed in several different chamber music ensembles both in Finland and abroad. Juuli has supplemented her studies in chamber music at the European Chamber Music Academy, for example. After completing her studies in 2012, Holma was selected for Fundação Orquestra Estúdio established in connection with the European Capital of Culture Guimarães, which led to
her performing regularly with both the orchestra and chamber music ensembles across Portugal. She has also played in several Finnish orchestras, including the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tapiola Sinfonietta and the Tampere Philharmonic.
Juuli plays an Italian Giovanni Grancino cello.
