Riikka Silvonen

Sub-Principal 2nd Violin

Riikka Silvonen studied at the Joensuu Conservatory and graduated with a degree in music in 1990. In 1989, she continued her studies at the International Conservatory of Paris. Concluding her postgraduate studies abroad, Riikka completed her diploma degree at the Royal Academy of Music in London in 1993. Riikka has also participated in several master classes in Finland, in addition to which she has supplemented her studies with courses in Paris and London.

Riikka Silvonen started as a musician in Rovaniemi in 1993 and serves as principal 2nd violin in the Lapland Chamber Orchestra. Riikka has loved playing chamber music since she was a child, so she has really enjoyed her time with the Lapland Chamber Orchestra. As a soloist and chamber musician in orchestras, Riikka Silvonen has performed in the Nordic and Baltic countries, as well as in Central and Southern Europe.

Riikka has also completed basic studies in music therapy and is interested in the social potential of art more broadly. As a Lapland lover, she enjoys being in nature, wilderness hikes, skiing and canoeing trips, or just picking berries.
